The Journey Begins

Why would a person such as us raise a dog to become a confident adult dog, and give him away? To give back. Just to simply give back. My family and I are currently raising a dog for the company CCI (Canine Companions for Independence). They have volunteers raise dogs, and put them in basic training for people who need them. People who are blind, deaf, paraplegic, autistic children, and people with physical disabilities. Why did we pick this company? They give companion dogs to wounded warriors for free. My dad being a retired army vet was very happy with that. We are currently raising our first dog, Spencer. He is an overall very well behaved puppy and a great friend.

Spencer’s journey with us began Monday, October 19th. We drove to CCI Headquarters in New York and brought him home. He was extremely well behaved for a puppy having no idea where in the world he was going on a five and a half hour trip. Spencer was about eleven weeks old when we brought him home.

Spencer is a great, funny, and entertaining dog. It’s funny to watch him when he hears a new sound because he will just sit down and listen. He also hops to a toy instead of running to him. We have started training him with his sit, hurry, wait, let’s go, and his name commands. Spencer’s progress is great and he is doing very well.

These past few days have taught me  something. Puppies are lots of hard work, and they are also good friends.

That’s Spencer’s World this week! I hope all of you who are reading this have a great week!
